Valid Tracking Required
Only packages with valid tracking numbers are eligible for insurance coverage.
Destination Restrictions
Not all commodities and destinations are covered. Check exclusions carefully.
Signature Confirmation
Jewelry over $500, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones require signature confirmation.
Packaging Restrictions
Items must not be shipped in original manufacturer packaging that reveals contents.
Excluded Items
Guns, firearms, rocks, crystals, CBD products, and certain collectibles are not insurable.
Claim Requirements
Keep all packaging and damaged goods. Claims must be filed within 120 days.

Claim Requirements

Follow these requirements to ensure your claim is processed successfully.

Keep all packaging material and damaged goods in original form as received

File immediate notice with both the carrier and SHIPSURANCE

Complete claim form within 120 calendar days from shipment date

Provide photos of damaged goods and packaging, repair estimates, and recipient statement

Concealed Damage Discovery

Up to 15 days after final delivery

USPS/Consolidator Claims

Wait 20 days (domestic) or 40 days (international) before filing

All Documentation

Must be received within 120 calendar days

Data Requirements

Each insured item requires specific data transfer to Shipsurance, including:

  • • Your name and address
  • • Item numbers and details
  • • Data from platform APIs

Fraud Warning: Submission of false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements may result in imprisonment up to 5 years and fines up to $10,000 (18 USC 1001). Civil penalties up to $5,000 and assessment of twice the falsely claimed amount may also apply (31 USC 3802).
